Wondering what to do in Western Oklahoma?
We welcome all to participate in any of our ongoing ministries or to recommend one of your own. You are always invited to meetings of the session or any other church committee. Here is what's happening with our Missions Committee.
Missions Committee
First Sunday. Remember to bring a can or two of non-perishable food the first Sunday of each month for our food pantry. Other items such as laundry detergent, diapers of various sizes, or non-perishable foods in other forms are always needed. We have people in our community that are hungry and have hungry children on a year-round basis.
Love loaves . It's that time of year again, when we will distribute love loaves as a special collection for the hungry in our community, our nation, and this year's focus, in Dafar, Africa where many die by the day from starvation.
Thanksgiving baskets and angel tree gifts. This is an excellent opportunity to help those less fortunate in our community through our donations and through helping with collection, sorting, and distribution of food and gifts. If you would like to help, please contact Anne Spence. Check out the monthly newsletter for dates and times of key events.
Mail Ministry. If you know of someone that needs a kind word every now and then, but is in a rest home, hospital, or just too far away to visit; let us know and we will send him or her a card and list the address in the bulletin so others can write a note of encouragement during the week. We will often have a card for all to sign at the Wednesday night meal (F-4).
Are you just itching to bake something? Well, we know some young folks in a residential youth program at Foss that would love to get some cookies, brownies, or anything tasty on the weekend. Just talk to anyone on the Missions Committee if you would like to make something. We are looking for volunteers for December and January. Just add your name to the sign up sheet in the back of the sanctuary.
Visitation ain't what it used to be. We would like to begin a visitation ministry in our church. Could you make a phone call, send an email, or make a personal visit? Would you like to take a meal to someone that can't get out? We are not sure what form this ministry will take, but if you would like to touch somebody's life with a call or a visit, please help us shape this new ministry. Contact any missions committee member or just show up at the monthly meeting. Be god's love in action!
MEALS ON WHEELS. We are exploring the possibility of a local meals on wheels program for shut-ins in our community. If you are interested, contact Tom Collins.
Are you looking for a mission? Join the missions committee or just stop in and tell us what you want to do. We need folks to head up or help with things such as visitation, food inventory, counting coins from the love loaves, and missions that we have yet to realize. Whether you want a large role or a small part, we have a place for you.
